In 2017, no executions were reported in 5 Countries – Indonesia, Nigeria, Sudan, Taiwan and Botswana – that carried out executions in 2016.
On the other hand, 4 countries, which had not carried out executions in 2016, resumed them in 2017: Jordan (15), Kuwait (7), Bahrain (3), United Arab Emirates (1).It could not be confirmed if judicial executions took place in Libya, Syria and Yemen in 2017.
